The Audubon Park Zoo offers an exotic blend of animals from around the world set in lush gardens throughout the park. Visit a slice of the Louisiana bayou and see unique favorites like the white alligator among cypress knees and Spanish moss in the Louisiana Swamp exhibit. Other innovative natural habitat exhibits include the Jaguar Jungle, the Dragon’s Lair, featuring the giant Komodo lizard, Monkey Hill and the African Savanna, home to the Southern white rhino. When you visit, it will be easy to see why this zoo has become a favorite among families when visiting New Orleans.
For the golf enthusiast, the city’s newest golf course is located next to the Audubon Park Zoo. The Audubon Park Golf Course offers contoured fairways, manicured greens, four lagoons, and above par landscaping set among hundred year old oak trees. Many prestigious events have been held here, among them the Saturday series of the PGA tour in 2002. This course is the only public golf course to re-open in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Dining options can be found in the café located adjacent to the pro-shop offering favorites such as hamburgers and hotdogs. Another dining option is the crown jewel of the golf course, the 5,000 square-foot Clubhouse featuring a surrounding veranda that offers a majestic view of the grounds.
